Sunday in Tagaytay

Kiel's yaya had a two week vacation when she requested to go home to her kids in the province. In effect, I requested my Mom to take care of Kiel while she's away. Siya tagahatid at sundo sa school. First time din niya makikita ang nabili naming condo na tinitirhan namin kaya pinapunta ko din siya ng Manila.

On her first weekend, we went to Tagaytay.

We arrived at Tagaytay 11 am. It was a drizzling and cold Sunday. We attended mass first at Our Lady of Lourdes church. After the mass, since we're not yet starving, we headed to People's Park in the Sky next. Suggestion ko to since di pa nila lahat napuntahan. For me, its my 3rd time already, tourist guide ang peg ko.

It was actually scary driving up the mountain. Super foggy kasi. I was worried kasi wala fog lights ang sasakyan namin, haha. Di ko sure kung need yun at that time.

We parked outside the gate entrance and paid P30 each to be admitted in. There were food vendors outside and inside the area. We bought strawberry taho before we headed in.

It's a short walk from the entrance up to the unfinished mansion which Imelda Marcos requested to be built. It was super foggy and cold.

Picture taking muna with my family. My mom never expected the cold that she did not bring a jacket, scarf lang dinala niya. It was my sister who sacrificed her jacket para magamit ni Nanay.

Tourists are flooding this place kahit maulan. Just look at that flock of people going down while we were still on our way up.

Upon reaching the unfinished mansion, there are huts where people can picnic while sightseeing (although there's not much to see because of the fog). Souvenir shops and food stalls are everywhere. We sent some time picture taking. I think the view from up there is great if weather was fine. Gloomy tuloy most of our pics.

Kiel was busy eating his strawberry taho. It's his second serving na actually kasi nabitin siya sa una naming nabili. And look at that face. By the way, 2nd time ko pa lang nakakain ng strawberry taho aside sa Baguio.

We bought matching caps for our little family.

After that, we drove back to Tagaytay proper and had late lunch at Balay Dako. It was a spacious restaurant which also serves Ilonggo food. Nagulat ako me KBL (kadios, baboy, langka) sa menu nila. Thinking back, Balay Dako is an Ilonggo word for 'big' (dako) 'house' (house). They also cook 'piaya' on the dining area where guests can watch while they cook and experience the freshly cooked delicacy afterwards.

The restaurant has the best view of Taal volcano. They have a viewing area on the lower floor of the restaurant. The upper floor where we dined in has clear glass walls where Taal can be seen but there are screens draped on the walls which blocks the view.

Here's a picture of us with my mom. By the way, did I mention that Bulalo (a must try dish in Tagaytay) in Balay Dako, costs P1,200+?? Grabe sa pagkamahal noh? Imported beef raw kasi, haha. Masarap naman food nila, on the pricey side nga lang pero its worth it naman.
