Thailand Mini Reunion
Friday, November 18, 2016
This is my favorite of all my personal travels. When my close friends, Redd and Noel, invited me to have a reunion in Bangkok, I immediately agreed and hurriedly bought my round trip tickets right that moment. They are both residing in Japan, Redd in Osaka and Noel in Tokyo, so basically we will be coming from different airports. Unlike my HK trip, this one was carefully prepared. Months before the trip, we were already planning our itineraries with matching time table..HAHA, ganun ka detailed. To sum up this trip, it was all about hotel hopping, beach bumming, booze drinking, gay bar hopping, more booze drinking and sige na nga, temple hopping na din para legit Thai experience. 😄
This trip was in Februry 2014 and Thailand at that time was in the middle of crazy hiatus due to government conflicts. We were afraid of being caught in the midst of their street protests and bombings in the city have been in the news. Nonetheless, we still pursued with the trip. This was actually my first time to travel going out of the country alone. Good thing that Redd and Noel have flights earlier than mine. I took the train from the airport alone and we just met at a station near our hotel.
The next day, we took the bus going to Ban Phe. The hotel we booked (Sai Kaew Beach Resort) has its own private ferry exclusive for its guests so we had a very convenient experience travelling to the island of Koh Samet. A pick up truck was already waiting for us when we arrived at the island which brought us into the hotel itself. (Just imagine Boracay where the hotels are far from the pier where bancas dock).
Upon seeing the beach, we were already in love with the place. That was beside the fact that the hotel itself was already gorgeous. The hotel was kinda on the high end side and it exceeded our expectations. We grabbed some lunch before hitting the beach but before actual food was served we had already started with our first dose of booze 😂. Afterwards, we joined the other tourists in enjoying the beachside. Noel had his hair braided (which pinag isipan niang mabuti if itutuloy nia since baka pagalitan sya sa work pagbalik) while Redd and I took a dip on the beach. We later on transferred to the hotel's pool where they have a pool bar and we had our second batch of booze for that day. As the day progressed into night, we had more booze coming. We had dinner by the beach, indian sitting while drinking beer and watching the fire show. Haaay, bakasyon galore talaga.
Saturday, we headed back to Bangkok and did some temple hopping. We tried the tuktuk and the city ferry and also used their train system (which was way better than ours).
At night time, we headed to one of the gay areas to have some more booze time. 😁 We also lined up to one of its gay bars and had a good time dancing our hearts out. Take note that this is a gay bar so imagine me being one of the few girls who happen to be inside that place. We met cool Pinoys there by the way. Too bad Bangkok has a 3 am curfew time so umuwi kaming bitin. We only had a few hours of sleep before heading our way out to the airport to catch our early flights the next day. We separated ways at the airport but with happy faces because of the good times we had in Bangkok.
